Daylight Saving - the next Y2K?
Tags: Technical
As reported in the Boston Globe this morning (2/12/07), a couple years ago Congress approved a change in when Daylight Saving Time goes into affect. Starting this year we'll be moving our clocks forward on March 11 instead of April 1. OK, so now you know, but what about your computers, VCR, etc? Well, fear not - Microsoft is way ahead of us this time, for the most part. If you're running the latest versions of Windows (XP Service Pack 2 or Vista) with the latest updates you're all set. If you have an older version of Windows there are a couple things you can do, but the easiest is probably to just manually change the time yourself and then buy an updated computer - what are you still doing running Windows 98 anyway? There may be some issues with your calendar/schedule though, so pay attention to anything on your calendar between March 11 and April 1 - they could be off by an hour. It all depends on when you implemented the patch and when you created those calendar entries.
Oh, as far as your VCR goes, if the clock isn't still blinking 12:00 then you probably already know how to set that one. And no, this is not the next Y2K - that was just the attention-grabbing headlines the newspapers are using to scare people.
